During the coronavirus pandemic, the amount of people in need of food has been greater than ever before. Food donations are shrinking, while the demand for food assistance continues to grow. SVA Professional Services is proud to partner with the Hunger Task Force and Second Harvest Food Bank as they hosted a Virtual Food Drive to support local communities.
SVA’s virtual food drive ran from May 1, 2020 to May 15, 2020. Rather than cans of corn and boxes of cereal, the company asked all employees to make a monetary donation to a local food bank. SVA then matched every employee’s donation, up to $15,000. The overall combined financial contribution to Second Harvest and Hunger Task Force was $42,327.87. This means these food pantries will be able to provide over 126,000 meals to those in need.
“In these unprecedented times, it is of utmost importance to give back to our community,” states John Baltes, CEO of SVA. “As active members of the community, we know that food banks, food pantries, and other charitable organizations face rising demand and a lack of necessary supplies. We are pleased to have hosted this virtual food drive so that we can feed thousands of people in need within our community.”
