Acumatica continues its twice-a-year release schedule with the launch of 2026 R1, bringing a wide range of updates across the platform. This release introduces new AI capabilities, usability improvements, expanded reporting options, and operational enhancements designed to help teams work faster and with better visibility.

Acumatica 2026 R1 Features

There are many new features in this release, and this article highlights the key additions you should know about.

AI Capabilities Expand Across Acumatica

AI is one of the biggest themes in Acumatica 2026 R1. Existing tools like expense receipt recognition, AP document recognition, and anomaly detection continue to evolve. One major update is that anomaly detection can now be applied to any generic inquiry.

This means teams can configure Acumatica to flag unusual activity across a broader range of data. For example, the system can review AP bills and compare actual costs against expected values based on historical data. If something looks unusual, users can review the exception and decide whether it needs attention.

The new AI Studio also allows organizations to create prompt-based AI experiences within Acumatica. These prompts can use data already stored in the system to generate summaries, descriptions, or recommendations. For example, a stock item record can generate a product description using item attributes, dimensions, and other details already entered in Acumatica.

AI Studio can also be used in CRM to summarize opportunities, support cases, sentiment, and next steps. This gives users quick context without requiring them to read through every note or activity.

Acumatica 2026 R1 also introduces the AI Assistant, a chatbot-style tool that lets users ask questions using everyday language. A finance user could ask for recent open invoices or compare revenue from one year to another. The AI Assistant uses Acumatica data and configured inquiries to return answers, charts, and drillable records.

Global and Reporting Improvements

Several global updates improve reporting and usability. Generic inquiries can now skip calculating total record counts, which can improve performance when working with large data sets. Parent inquiries can also pass parameters directly to child inquiries, making connected drill-down reporting easier to build.

Pivot tables now support more detailed time-based grouping, such as week of month or month of quarter, along with running totals. These improvements help users analyze trends without exporting data for extra calculations.

A new phone control also allows users to select a phone number in Acumatica and launch the default phone app on their device.

File Tags Make Documents Easier to Find

The new file tag feature gives users a better way to organize and locate attachments. Organizations can create custom tags, apply them to uploaded files, and manage access rights by tag.

For example, AP documents can be tagged and later found through file search, without drilling into each individual bill or transaction. This is helpful when users know the type of document they need but do not remember exactly where it was attached.

Finance Updates

Finance teams gain several practical updates in 2026 R1. Employees can now accept payments through the Acumatica mobile app using Bluetooth card readers, which is useful for field service and on-site transactions.

Foreign currency payment handling has also improved, allowing users to enter paid amounts directly in the document currency when creating AR or AP documents or reconciling bank transactions.

The new Insights Excel add-in allows users to work with Acumatica financial report data directly in Excel. Reports can be refreshed with real-time data, reducing the need to export multiple static versions.

Another useful update is the ability to create prepayment invoices directly from purchase orders. This reduces duplicate entry, links the prepayment to the PO, and allows the payment to be automatically applied when the AP bill is created.

CRM, Manufacturing, and Distribution Updates

CRM users will see better visibility and cleaner data management. Opportunity and quote records now include margin visibility earlier in the sales process. Duplicate validation has also expanded to customers and vendors, helping teams catch possible duplicate records before they are saved.

Customer and vendor records now include expanded side panels that show related documents such as open invoices, payments, sales orders, quotes, and opportunities.

Manufacturing teams gain a new shop floor kiosk, which gives production employees a simplified interface for clocking in and out, viewing work in process, issuing materials, and recording production activity. Acumatica also now supports time tracking down to the second, which is useful for high-speed production environments. Work centers can also be grouped into departments for better reporting and organization.

Distribution and inventory updates include improved project material planning, better visibility into inventory in transit, inventory adjustment approval workflows, and warehouse management improvements. Teams can now see shortages more clearly on pick lists, change picking locations on the fly, and use improved purchase receipt correction options.

Looking Ahead

Acumatica 2026 R1 reflects a larger shift toward automation, AI-assisted work, and better visibility across business processes. The release introduces updates that can help users spend less time searching, filtering, and entering data, and more time reviewing information, managing exceptions, and making decisions.

For companies planning an upgrade, the best next step is to review the features most relevant to your workflows, test them in a sandbox environment, and prepare users for the changes that will have the greatest day-to-day impact.
