SVA Consulting’s Mark Schafer was recently featured in an article on the website Krebs on Security. The article, titled The Hidden Cost of Ransomware: Wholesale Password Theft, discussed real-world examples of companies that had been targeted by a ransomware attack. Mark, who is one of the company’s acting chief information security officer, described the experience and what the company did to thwart off the attack. Some of the ways in which the company responded was to rebuild its email network, use a third-party service to establish off-site backups, and review areas where the company could harden its security.
