THE STORY

Agronomy is a science and a practice that looks at agriculture from an integrated, holistic perspective. The American Society of Agronomy (ASA) is the international professional home for scientists dedicated to advancing the discipline of the agronomic sciences to improve the food chain and help the world produce more food. ASA supports its 9,000 members and certified professionals by providing quality research-based publications, educational programs, certifications, and science policy initiatives.

As with every association, in order to keep the association going, you need to make sure you are communicating with and managing your members. SVA Consulting was referred to ASA by Microsoft to determine the true needs of their association and identify where technology could advance their goals as a membership organization, and reduce manual processes. An important financial aspect of any association, in order to remain relevant and vital to its members, is the money it collects from membership dues, while at the same time delivering a high quality knowledge base, networking, conferences and member requested initiatives.

After the discovery meeting, SVA Consulting enhanced third-party customizations to CRM technology to become a “member management system” which included processes such as automated renewal emails, dues tracking and reporting. The timely collection of dues ensures the sustainability of the programs its membership desires, while boosting membership retention.
