Established in 1904 and headquartered in Madison, WI, Dean is one of the largest integrated healthcare systems in the country. Dean provides medical and health services throughout a network of 60 Dean Clinics, health insurance services through Dean Health Plan, ancillary health services within the Dean Clinic locations, and clinical research and education through Dean Foundation. In addition, Dean joined SSM Health system in 2013 which owns several hospitals nationwide. Dean Health Plan itself was established in 1983 and provides award-winning insurance coverage to individuals, families and employers.
The healthcare industry overall is highly regulated. Dean Health Plan is regulated by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. SVA Consulting was referred in to solve a system deficiency and a potential compliance problem. In order to do so, SVA Consulting built a Business Intelligence (BI) system that pulls data out of Dean Health Plan’s claims processing systems to effectively and correctly recognize revenue at any given point in time, while eliminating compliance risk.
