Every year SVA gives back to the community in a variety of ways. This year, through sponsorship and volunteerism, SVA supported Hunger Task Force with their Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food Drive. On November 18, 2022 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, the food drive allowed the public to donate food to Hunger Task Force, in-person, just in time for Thanksgiving.
In these times, more and more people are facing financial hardships and food insecurity. In Milwaukee County, more than 21,000 people visit local food pantries each month. No family should go hungry and that is the goal this annual food drive strives to accomplish. At the conclusion of the food drive, Hunger Task Force reported a grand total of 513 turkeys and 46,000 lbs. of food donated for families this holiday season.
“Giving back to our community has always been and always will be important for SVA and our employees. Each year we support a number of local organizations and we are happy to support Hunger Task Force,” states Matt Vanderloo, CEO of SVA. “Helping provide nutritious meals is always important for families in need. We appreciate all that Hunger Task Force does to help our community and being a partner with them is truly rewarding for us.”
About Hunger Task Force
Hunger Task Force believes that every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. They work to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger free community tomorrow.
Hunger Task Force believes in its crucial mission to distribute food to hungry children, families, and seniors who have fallen upon difficult times, and not to charge network partners for the food the community has generously donated for free. Hunger Task Force is continually adapting its policies to align with the needs of the community. They are generously supported by thousands of donors— both individuals, foundations, and corporations, helped by more than 16,000 volunteers, and driven by hundreds of local community advocates each year.
