Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks has grown from a local resort into more than 1,200 rooms in the Wisconsin Dells and nearly 1,000 more in Tennessee.

Disconnected Systems

As their operations expanded, so did the complexity of managing financials across multiple locations with different accounting systems. TJ Van Wie, Chief Financial Officer, knew it was time to unify the organization under one software solution.

“We started with two different accounting software systems in Tennessee and in the Dells,” said TJ. “From my position, I wanted one software system, one accounting system that we can all use.” Adding urgency to the decision, their Tennessee system was being phased out.

One Unified ERP Platform

Wilderness turned to SVA Consulting to guide them through the implementation of Acumatica, a modern cloud-based ERP platform. From the very beginning, SVA brought deep industry understanding to the project. “I’m pretty confident that everyone in that [introductory] meeting knew the Wilderness and our operations,” TJ explained.

That familiarity translated into a smooth implementation. “They were there for us,” TJ said. “My staff, and even myself, have said many times this is a lot easier than a few of the other installs we’ve encountered over the past 10 years.”

SVA didn’t step away once the implementation was complete. Their team remained available to provide support when questions or challenges arose.

Better Data and Streamlined Processes

Acumatica has transformed the way Wilderness manages its financial operations, improving access to timely data and creating efficiencies across departments. Staff now have more time in their workday thanks to streamlined processes, and leadership can generate and share reports that were previously difficult or time-consuming to produce. The web-based nature of Acumatica has also made a noticeable difference, allowing TJ to go into the system even if he’s not at his desk.

In addition to SVA Consulting, Wilderness also works with SVA Certified Public Accountants for accounting and auditing services. “I’ve got SVA on speed dial. I know I can call them, and they will provide the answer. I can trust SVA. I know the product I’m going to get in the end, and I know it’s going to be timely.”

“If someone were to ask me if they should work with SVA, I would say absolutely 100%,” says TJ. “It’s been a wonderful relationship that I would do a thousand times over.”
